Name: Poison Ivy/Dr. Pamela Isley
Canon: Harley Quinn (animated series)
Canon point: Post Season 3
Age: 37
History: Fandom Wiki
Personality:
(+) LOYAL: While Ivy has a difficult time connecting with people, when she does bond with someone she is an incredibly patient and devoted and supportive friend. She will dedicate her time and energy to helping those close to her through rough patches and out of dangerous situations, up to and including prison breaks, hospital visits, physical violence and deprioritizing her own needs for them. This is true of her relationship with Harley, even prior to it becoming romantic, but also her relationships with Kite Man and to an extent Catwoman.
(+) SELF-RELIANT: An abusive, negligent childhood followed by intentional self-isolation into adulthood taught Ivy to take care of herself, and despite her frustrations and setbacks, she is ultimately a very resilient and competent person who will rarely ask others to do anything that she can do herself. (Or command a plant to do for her. Toh-may-toh, toh-mah-toh.) Over time, she has become less resistant to working with others, but she's also come to believe more in her own power and judgment and to find greater confidence working on her own.
(+) ENVIRONMENTALIST: Ivy is passionate about the environment and a tremendous lover of plants. While caring about the wellbeing of the planet is, arguably, a good thing all on its own, it's also an interest that gives Ivy a very big picture perspective. She understands how all of the parts of a system interact and how to balance both short and long term goals, whether that means understanding that eating vegetarian is better for the environment on the whole even if it means killing individual plants, or working with superheroes upon occasion because despite their differing means and priorities, those are sometimes the partnerships that bring her closer to her goals.
(-) MISANTHROPIC: Ivy claims to have lost her faith in humanity as a child, hating and distrusting people on the whole, until she met Harley who softened her position somewhat. That softening shouldn't be construed as liking humans as a whole, though—the friends and loved ones who Ivy genuinely trusts and cares about are still exceptions to her general antipathy. It might be fair to say that she's gone from being actively misanthropic and wanting to wipe humanity off the planet to passively disinterested in their survival or suffering outside of a few specific individuals—friends who she would fight to protect, and billionaires and polluters who she'd still very much like to murder.
(-) AVOIDANT: Perhaps surprising for a supervillain, Ivy tends to avoid confrontation and other uncomfortable situations. If a problem can't be solved with plants and murder, she'd really rather not deal with it, whether that means asserting boundaries or letting herself be emotionally vulnerable. This avoidance extends to a pretty significant fear of commitment which shows in both of her significant romantic relationships that appear in canon. Ultimately, Ivy is very afraid of losing people she loves or being hurt by them and as a result she's very hesitant to upset a status quo that's good enough, even if it makes her unhappy.
(-) PESSIMISTIC: Ivy is inclined to be both defeatist and easily discouraged. Some of this reflects on her own lack of confidence in her abilities, while other times it seems to stem from an unreasonable perfectionism. She often rationalizes this attitude as realistic or pragmatic, for example citing a glass ceiling for female villains as a reason she doesn't try to loom larger. Her pessimism is distinct from both her misanthropy and her avoidance, but the three aspects of her personality do often inform each other and feed into one another, leading to cycles of self-justification and a reluctance to push out of her comfort zone.
Powers/Abilities:
Regret: Ruining Jazzapajizza (hurting Harley).
Suitability: While Ivy doesn't necessarily self-identify as a team player, the days of her isolating herself and working strictly alone are solidly behind her thanks in part to the support of her BFF GFF, Harley Quinn and her more recent career opportunities with the Legion of Doom. Aside from her powers as a metahuman, Ivy's skills as a scientist would provide the crew with a deeper expertise, especially in botany and environmental fields and give her an opportunity for her to get involved with the science side of Ximilia.
Inventory: Just the clothes she's wearing.
